Day of Prayer During the Fortnight for Freedom on Thursday, July 2nd 2026

9:30am Rosary 10:00am Mass 10:30am Benediction followed by Confessions with Eucharistic Adoration until evening prayer 12 Noon The Angelus 3:00pm Divine Mercy Chaplet & Prayers 6:00pm Evening Prayer & Conclusion St. Thomas Aquinas Church located on Binghamton’s Westside 1 Aquinas St. Binghamton, NY 13905 www.sta-sp.org [email protected] ~ 607-797-4015 The fourteen days from June 21st, the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher & St. Thomas More to July 4th, Independence Day, are dedicated to this “Fortnight for Freedom.” This fortnight is a great hymn of prayer for our country. Our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power— St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. The fortnight, culminating on Independence Day, is a special period of prayer, study, catechesis, and public action that emphasizes both our Christian and American heritage of liberty.

4th of july Prayer for the 250th Anniversary of America

O God, Lord of history and of every nation under heaven, we give You thanks for the 250 years since the founding of these United States. Look with favor upon this land which we love. Grant that its people may be guided by truth and charity. Bless all who serve in elected office. May they govern with integrity and humility. Strengthen families, renew communities, and heal every division that weakens our life together. We ask especially through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, patroness of these United States, that this nation may remain a land where human dignity is honored, where the weak are protected, and where hope is never extinguished. As we mark this 250th year, grant that we may recommit ourselves to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in a way that is ever more just, more united, and more faithful to Your will. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Office for Divine Worship, 2026, Diocese of Erie
